Heat Risk Dashboard

This app provides a unified geo-referenced overlay of NWS HeatRisk forecasts and CDC Heat and Health Index indicators for the United States. This is an experimental prototype provided for informational purposes only by the Urban Tech Hub at Cornell Tech as part of the Cornell Initiative on Aging and Adaptation to Extreme Heat.

1. Geography

Choose your location to view specific heat risk data for your area.

2. Time Period

Select a forecast day to display.

Optional: Select a different start date to view historical data.

3. Heat Risk

Select one or more levels of heat risk to display. Learn more about heat risk levels

4. Heat and Health Index Indicator

Select which indicator from the CDC Heat and Health Index to display. (Default: Overall HHI Score). Use the button below to display indicator description or consult the HHI technical documentation.

5. Sensitivity

Set the percentile threshold of values to display. For instance, a 90 percent sensitivity will select the 10 percent of areas with the highest values.
